Smooth Me Over

I thought I had my life all figured out
Thought I knew what I was all about
Turns out you had other plans for me

With a simple touch of your hand
I've become such a different man
A better man than I was ever meant to be

Spin me around
Push me down
Smooth me over
Hold me under your spell

Your charms took hold so quickly
To my surprise they overwhelmed me
Now it's clear that you are my destiny

Spin me around
Push me down
Smooth me over
Hold me under your spell

I never had a chance
From your first glance
You held me in your trance
And from our first kiss
I only exist
For your command is my wish
We just feel so right
You are the time of my life

Spin me around
Push me down
Smooth me over
Hold me under your spell

Your Side

I spend my days dealing with the criminals
And the superheroes
There's no space for the middle ground
Just bad clichés
So much easier when it's black and white
And night and day
Sometimes hard to remember
That we're all just shades of gray

I'm on your side, I'm on your side

I spend my nights
Sleeping with the enemy, but it's just me
Sometimes I don't know who's right or wrong
Or who's on my team
There's no race toward the common good
Just petty fights
The only thing that matters is for me to know
That you're all right

I'm on your side, I'm on your side
Whatever you need just come to me
I'm on your side, I'm on your side
Whatever you need just come to me

I spend my days dealing with the criminals
And the superheroes

Love is a Dream

Dawn breaks much too soon
Try my best not to wake you
If I had my way, you could just sleep all day

Lie still, and listen to you breathe
If I don't go now, I'll never leave
Just stay here and watch you sleep for eternity

Forever asleep
Love is a dream
And I never want to wake up
I never want to wake up

Sleep walk through my afternoon
Counting seconds till I'm back to you
If I could you know I would never leave you alone

Forever asleep
Love is a dream
And I never want to wake up
I never want to wake up
And I never want to wake up without you

Don't wake me, don't wake me if I'm dreaming

The day fades, the stars come out to play
Finally home, and I'm here to stay
If we had our way night would never spin into day

Forever asleep
Love is a dream
And I never want to wake up
I never want to wake up
And I never want to wake up without you

Here’s to Me

I study your face
Like a living photograph
I love you so much I just have to laugh

Whisper that I love you
As you're drifting off to sleep
I live for when you smile just for me

Here's to me, I am the only one
Here's to me, I am the lucky one
Here's to me, I am the only one
Who gets to know you

I want to know what you know
And feel what you feel
I can't believe that you are really real

Here's to me, I am the only one
Here's to me, I am the lucky one
Here's to me, I am the only one
Who gets to know you

Why don't you come away with me
There's so much to explore
Why don't you have your way with me
I've never said no before

Here's to me, I am the only one
Here's to me, I am the lucky one
Here's to me, I am the only one
Who gets to know you

Can’t There be Enough Love

A homeless family
Rousted out of their concrete bed
By those charged to protect and to serve
Wonder who
Can put a roof over their heads
If you don't have money you get what you deserve

Can't there be enough love for everyone?

A young unwed mother
With an even younger child
She'll take any job just to buy food
The scornful politician
Says she shouldn't have been so wild
But he’s just a self-centered fool

Can't there be enough love for everyone?

A young man
Lies dying in his bed
For the want of a three dollar pill
But the drug companies
Say he's better off dead
If he can't pay their outrageous bills

Can't there be enough love for everyone?

Moving to Florida

She says "I don't see myself here,
I don't know myself here,
I've got to find myself somewhere else"

She says she's moving to Florida
That's where she will be found
She says she's moving to Florida
With a wink says “I'll see you around”

So she wraps herself in steel
And wonders how she feels
As she flies away

So she's moving to Florida
That's where she will be found
She's moving to Florida
With a wave said “I'll see you around”

So she found herself in Florida
She was right, she was down there all along
So she found herself in Florida
So like me, I miss her now that she's gone

Riptide

Pulls the rental car into the lot outside the bar
Lets the engine idle, but he's already come too far
Goes inside, finds her familiar face
She greets him with a strong embrace that feels like yesterday

A warm smile and an ice-cold beer
Can almost imagine it's been a happier year
He's got no one but himself to blame
Some things never change but nothing is the same

Riptide pulls him out to sea
He swims for the shore but she's not there to see
As the riptide pulls him out to sea
Lets the waves wash away the man he used to be

Small talk turns to the weather
He wonders when the common ground fell away beneath them
He's been away so long
She doesn't even love the man he was, the man he will become

Riptide pulls him out to sea
He swims for the shore but she's not there to see
As the riptide pulls him out to sea
Lets the waves wash away the man he used to be

Time for good-bye, he starts to ask the question
That he came so far to ask, but instead he just drives
She's moved on while he’s still standing still
In the crashing waves until…

Riptide pulls him out to sea
He swims for the shore but she's not there to see
As the riptide pulls him out to sea
Lets the waves wash away the man he used to be

Right for Me

There was a time you called me baby
Now you call me friend, but you never call me lately

Maybe I was never right for you
Maybe I was never right for you

There was a time I could do no wrong
But you know those days are gone, gone, gone
Maybe I was never right for you

You were right for me
You were right for me
You will always be the only one who is
Right for me

There was a time I couldn't take my eyes off you
Couldn't take your eyes off me, love is blind and I'm a fool

Maybe I was never right for you

You were right for me
You were right for me
You will always be the only one who is
Right for me

There was a time all we had was fun
Now you even ask me "What did we have in common?"

Well, I loved you
And you loved me
If there was anything else we needed
Don't know what it would be

You were right for me
You were right for me
You will always be the only one who is
Right for me

Maybe I was never right for you

Find Me

If you find me
Here with you
I will always be
Who I am
And who you need
If you find me

If you find me, don't ever let me go
If you find me, don't ever let me go
If you find me, don't ever let me go

There is no place
Where you end
And I begin
We will find
That we are one
When we look within

If you find me, don't ever let me go
If you find me, don't ever let me go
If you find me, don't ever let me go

If you find me...
